Trevor, our co-founder, is holding down the booth in Edmonton with a wide selection of maps and holiday preorder options.
If you’re walking the show floor, look for the Wanderlust Creatures booth with the wall full of cork maps. It's hard to miss, partly because cork has that warm, natural texture that pulls people in, and partly because there are so many stories sitting on that wall.
Some maps are bold centre pieces. Some are easy-to-gift framed pieces. Some are seasonal favourites. Many are display models that have been admired, photographed, and gently poked at by curious fingers.
They all have one thing in common: they are ready to leave the show with someone.
The wall is full of discounted and seasonal cork maps
We dedicated an entire wall of our booth to discounted and seasonal maps for the Edmonton Fall Home Show Map Sale and Holiday Preorders event.
That sounds tidy and planned, but standing in front of it feels more like opening a travel scrapbook. There are maps for people who have crossed oceans, people who keep returning to the same mountain town, people who are slowly filling in Canada one province at a time, and people who just want something on the wall that feels personal.
Many of the pieces on the wall are display models. They are the ones we have brought to shows, staged for photos, and used to help people understand the scale, texture, and detail of our work in person.
They are handmade in Calgary from 3D laser-cut Portuguese oak cork, which gives them that layered, tactile feel. They are not flat prints pretending to be maps. They have depth. They cast tiny shadows. They invite people to step closer.
That is one of my favourite parts of bringing them to shows. Someone will walk by, glance over, slow down, then come in closer and say, “Wait, is that cork?”
Yes. It is cork. And yes, it looks even better in person.
The sale is simple and first come, first serve
The discounts on this wall are for this show only. At the Edmonton Fall Home Show, the pieces are first come, first served. When a display map goes home with someone, that exact map is gone.
If there is a piece that feels right for your home, your office, your cabin, your camper, or someone on your holiday list, this is the time to take a closer look.
You can touch the cork, compare sizes, see how the frame feels, and picture the finished piece in a real room. That is a different experience from shopping online, where scale can be hard to judge and textures never quite come through.

Our made-to-order maps take time because we make them by hand. That is a good thing. It means the piece is made with care, not rushed through like a last-minute afterthought.
It also means the holiday rush matters.
